Butanox® M-50, a versatile methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP), serves as a general-purpose catalyst for curing unsaturated polyester resins when paired with a cobalt accelerator. This curing system is highly effective for various applications, including gelcoat resins, laminating resins, lacquers, and castings. Unlike the benzoyl peroxide/amine accelerator system, it may also enable the production of light-resistant parts. With its guaranteed low water content and absence of polar compounds, Butanox® M-50 has demonstrated its suitability for use in glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) products, especially in marine applications.
